Do you fly or race your model with video?   The Eagle Tree OSD Expander (patent pending) provides a simple and easy way to display the data you need, in real time.   When coupled with our eLogger or Data Recorder products and accessories,  a wide array of parameters can be displayed on your video screen.  

What Equipment is Required?

Our OSD system is completely modular.   Simply purchase our eLogger or one of our Data Recorders, the OSD Expander, and any additional sensors you want to display. Or, for your convienence we offer complete OSD packages below.

Of course, our OSD system also requires an NTSC, PAL or SECAM video camera with video output, a wireless video transmitter/receiver and/or a Digital Video Recorder.

Do I need a video camera, video transmitter, video receiver, and goggles/display for the OSD?

Yes. Eagle Tree does not sell these video products, but several of our dealers do. Here are some recommendations for dealers of these video products:

What Data Parameters can be Displayed on the OSD?

All parameters available with our eLoggers and Data Recorders + optional sensors will be supported for display on the OSD.   Here are some examples:

• GPS Parameters (Distance to Home, Home Arrow, GPS Altitude, Ground Speed, Course, and more)
• Electrical Parameters (Pack Volts, Amperage, RX Volts*, Servo Current, Milliamp-Hours, Watts)
• Performance Parameters: Airspeed, Barometric Altitude,  Temperatures, RPM, Climbrate*, G-Force*, EGT*, Jet ECU Status*, servo positions*
• Receiver Health (Dropped Frames, Antenna Fades, Missed Packets – requires Spektrum or JR FlightLog compatible Receiver)
• Call Sign, and many more

* feature only available with Data Recorder

How Do I Hook it Up?

The OSD Expander has 4 connections:

• Connection to the eLogger or Data Recorder
• Servo-style connections to your camera’s “video out” port and your video transmitter’s “video in” port
• Servo connector for controlling the OSD from your radio

How Do I Configure the OSD?

Eagle Tree’s drag and drop Configuration software makes it easy to configure the OSD to display what you want to see, when and where you want to see it. As few or as many parameters as you need can be displayed.

Our software lets you configure the OSD with up to 12 data parameters per screen.   Also, the same parameter can be displayed on multiple screens.

A spare servo channel can then switch between screens, or turn off the OSD entirely.

A special feature of our software is the ability to set alarms on many of the parameters, which can be set to turn on the OSD only when that condition is met.

For example, you could set an alarm on the milliamp-Hours drawn from your battery, and alert you by turning on the OSD and flashing the milliamp-Hours used, when it is exceeded.   Voltage, altitude, and several other parameters can be set up with alarms in this way.

Is the Eagle Tree OSD System “Future Proof”?

Yes!   Eagle Tree has been in the R/C Data business for many years – it’s all we do!   We won’t lose interest in your data equipment shortly after you buy our product, and we have full time support staff to help with any issues you encounter.

Also, our systems are fully modular.  If we come out with a new sensor, a more powerful OSD Expander, a software improvement, etc., it’s easy and cost effective to update the system.   So, your system is not obsolete a few months after your buy it.

And of course, the OSD Expander’s firmware is updatable from the internet, making it easy for you get access to new features, sensors, get bug fixes, etc.

Useful if your video equipment uses RCA plugs. Two are needed if both your camera and video transmitter use RCA.

Useful for suppressing RF from noisy video camera transmitters, that can interfere with GPS reception. Weight 0.4 oz. One will snap around several adjacent cables.
